29th March 2015

Hello everyone, tonight is our final night on Uruguayan soil. We expected to have at least four more nights here with plenty of time to do a leisurely blog update, but this turns out not to be the case.

I’ll make this report very brief and I can do a longer report and update it all at the end of our month at sea.

During the past month, in fact we have had more contact with fellow travellers that we have had for the entire trip people from Europe and South Africa mainly. We travelled with one group of South African globetrotters for two weeks as both of us were killing time before our respective departures from South America. Our friends are shipping their vehicle from Zarate, Argentina and then flying back home and we plan to travel with our car back to Antwerp, Belgium.

Very briefly, we crossed back into Uruguay from Brazil around the 11th March and we have slowly travelled down the coast and then went north into an area called Minas and stayed in a lovely camping there. Then we transversed across to Canelones and Santa Lucia. This is where we parted from our friends as they were heading up to Frey Bentos to cross over into Argentina. We came back down to Montevideo.

We called into Vigia and got the tyre air system finally fixed (there was a kink in one of the air leads and Jan wanted it repaired before we returned to Europe, he also bought some spares) then we continued into the centre of the city and called into the shipping agent and they printed out our tickets for us and told us to be ready to board on the 2nd April, alas this date has been brought forward, we were not told why, so we are not sure if the extra four days now will be spent on board the ship or not.

Anyway, I’ll just release this quick note now and open up the photos of the last month.

I’ll update the remainder of this when I can.

Greetings for now

Claire & Jan
